Disaster Risk - with knock-on effects across our community - is a function of the interaction between hazards (extreme event) and vulnerability (largely shaped by social and economic context).


Our era is now becoming characterised by more severe weather events and crumbling democracies. Thus the recent award-winning sandcastle “crumbling democracy” is both apt and timely.
